Turned out that in my infinite wisdom, I ordered solely an H&R rear sway while thinking I was getting a kit for the front and rear.
I was planning to get the second half of the kit for the front, a 26mm H&R bar. And then I was tipped off on this. A 22mm Genuine Mercedes unit, made by Eibach. For the CLK Black Series.
It will be interesting to see how it handles with a smaller front bar than the kit would typically include, even if it is massive in comparison to stock. It’s also a direct fit, as the 07 Sport Pack included a larger bar from the factory stolen off of one of the bigger cars. Shooting for more oversteer, as the car weighs 3400lbs and that’s a ton to push around an autocross. This may be a bit of a handful on a real track, but that’s a ways away. Plus this was a lot cheaper than the H&R piece.
The full assembly I’m going with:
And a shot of the two cars together, while I still own both of them:
Looking forward to getting plates for the Benz. Looking even more forward to getting these go-fast parts in.

Awesome build - the big rear bar should help make it a bit more oversteery. Also, love the wheels on the car, I think they look cool!

If you need help rotating on an autocross course, bump up the tire pressure in the rears. My old Mustang pushed like crazy. A big front sway bar and over inflated rears will help.

Definitely shooting to avoid that at first but may have to resort to it. Good 'ole Mercedes open diff is going to make it hard not to smoke the inside tire already. The factory TCS shifts power to opposite sides with the brakes, which could help, but I'll likely be running this car in "Dyno Mode" with all assists disabled (not because I want to, but because it's the only way to fully disable TCS and ASM fully and to stop the car from cutting throttle. I really want to be able to run this with ABS).

Thanks! A weird platform and the numbers for this car aren’t impressive, but I like the chassis a lot and underpowered or not, it should serve as a good learner’s car.
One of the main reasons I went for this model year is those wheels. Originally I had been putting funds aside to get some sort of lightweight track wheel for one of the prior-year W203s. But these look fantastic to me, plus the factory staggered setup (with 7.5in wide rears) means I can stick some more rubber in there.

I love the first gen facelift FordMondeo/Fusion/Contour Mercury Mystique.
The saloons were the least common.
I don’t know why, but I love that rear light cluster, how it goes forward and up.
Most were 5 door liftback or estates.

I bought this Contour SVT as a bucket list purchase. I’m in the US and I’m 23 now, but I grew up watching the ST200s in BTCC on TV as a kid. The same reason it has the wheels swapped, as we got a much uglier set here in the US.
The Mondeos are pretty generally seen by the CSVT community as a better car, plain and simple. I am in that camp. Who wouldn't be? Better styling, better engineering, made in more of a hatchback and even a damn wagon!

She looks good. After all these years she looks better than some Fords that came after her, the look has aged very well.
I’ve just been reading up on the North American and European Ford M/F/C M.M.
At the time it seems the Contour/Mystique didn’t do too well in North America. While it really came into it’s own here in Europe. But they were rarely the same car.
The blue Mondeo up top is a 2000, 2.5 V6 168bhp, Ghia X saloon. £2,500.
Here’s a 1998, 2.5 V6 168bhp, ST-24 liftback. £1,999.
It’ll still be a while for the ST220 to be legal over there, unless you think about moving to Canada.
2004, 3.0 ST220, 224bhp saloon, £2,150.
Were popular with the police in 4 and 5 door and estate forms.

If you’re looking for more oversteer, then keep the stock front bar and just upgrade the rear with a larger bar.
